                                       FAQ:

How often will we meet for classes?

We will meet as a group once a week for one hour.

When will classes begin?

First class is Monday September 8th at 6:30pm. Please arrive a few minutes early to get set up.

Where will we rehearse?

Though my teaching studio is located in Ferndale, our group classes meet at my home in the Historic Boston Edison District. The exact address will be sent to you upon registry.

I see the class is 21+ only... why?
This class is specifically for the adults who never got the opportunity  to begin music. It is created to be a fun, relatable, and relaxed space to learn, create, and be a part of a small community of like-minded adults.
(and also there may be wine)

Itinerary

This class is designed to help the absolute beginning adult grasp the early foundations of violin playing. Here are some of the skills you will acquire in your eight weeks of training:

Technical Training

You will learn the mechanics of violin playing including posture, hand position, finger placement, dexterity, strength, flexibility, bow technique, and more!

Ear Training

Learn how to listen to pitch, tone, and texture in your playing and in others. Learn general pitch recognition and basic interval recognition.

Ensemble Playing

Practicing on your own helps to hone personal skill, but playing with other musicians is its own skill. Get your feet in the water by beginning with other musicians!

Beginning Music Theory

Understand the ins and outs of WHY music works the way it does. Learning the theory that intertwines within music is a helpful tool in the learning process. We will learn basic key signatures, intervals, meters, rhythms, rhythmic subdivisions, and more!

Reading Music

The ability to read music opens all the doors for your future! It is an immeasurably helpful tool that allows speed and ease in learning new songs.

Expressive Interpretation

Become a true artist. Make your music your own and express any story you have to tell.

Beginning Improvisation

Learn to let go of all the rules and be free! You will learn how to paint on a blank canvas (your violin, of course) and dive into one of the most rewarding forms of music playing.
